Peggy Rancilio stands out as a remarkable Lawyer and Trust Officer, bringing a wealth of experience and insight to her role at Schluter & Hughes. With a decade spent as Senior Trust Officer in the executive suite of a Fortune 500 Private Bank, her professional journey is deeply rooted in a lifelong passion for understanding families and their legacies. This interest was sparked during a genealogy project in the eighth grade, igniting her curiosity about familial connections that continues to flourish today.
In her work with estate administration, Peggy serves as the vital center point, uniting families and the array of professionals necessary to safeguard their wealth and heritage. Her extensive knowledge, coupled with her empathetic communication style, positions her as a preferred advisor in navigating this intricate process. Over the years, she has collaborated closely with multi-generational families, using her voracious reading habits and exceptional listening abilities—fostered by her passion for storytelling—to craft personalized estate plans that resonate with each client's unique narrative. Peggy has a special talent for transforming challenging conversations about mortality and wealth into opportunities for meaningful connection and legacy-building. This ability to humanize complex situations, often reframing a hardship as gift, is her hallmark.
A graduate of the University of Mercy School of Law in Detroit, Peggy's career spans various law firms and banks, where she gained significant expertise in Trust Administration, Estate Planning, Guardianships, Conservatorships, Irrevocable Trusts, ILITs, Family Foundations, Grants, and Probate. She remains committed to professional growth through ongoing educational programs, such as those offered by ICLE. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors for Turning Point, recognized by Crain's Detroit Business as the 2023 Best Managed Nonprofit, which provides vital support to survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
Beyond her professional pursuits, this Michigan native has a passion for travel, often exploring new destinations with a cozy mystery novel in hand. Santa Fe holds a special place in her heart, drawing her back for its rich culture, art, and architecture since her childhood.
In her Irish-Italian family, Peggy cherishes her role as the keeper of traditions, diligently recording the family's stories. She's renowned for her delicious lasagna and delights in sharing the most thoughtful gifts.
